Banja Luka has always been city of sports.
We have to mention some of them, which made this city
famous: handball, football and basketball. Handball club "Borac" was
champion in ex Yugoslavia as well as Europe champion. Same name football
club in SFRJ won the Yugoslavian Cup playing with clubs like Red Star,
Partizan, Hajduk, Dinamo, Zeljeznicar...
Lately in Banja Luka the most atrractive sport is basketball, because
local club "Borac Nektar" took part in Saporta Cup and gave valid results.
Beside these, the most popular sports are boxing, tennis, chess,
kajak-kanu, bowling and karate.
